SUMMARY

COMPRO is a program written in FORTRAN IV that sorts the variables in FORTRAN common blocks into alphabetical and numerical order and also produces a FORTRAN DATA statement to store the variable names as elements of an array. The application of these statements to the design of readable and flexible FORTRAN programs is demonstrated, with reference to a programming example.
